Does anyone know if a full system, extractors and all, off a VX SS will fit a VY? Both 5.7 engines. And what the difference is in the 2 systems?

the catalytic convertors are in a different location and i also believe they run another couple of o2 sensors (4 in total) but i could be wrong on this one!!

Thank you Jason. I mainly want it for the extractors because it's only costing me a case of beer from a guy at work who is upgrading his system to a 3in.

OK, everybody, here's more food for thought.
What is the optimal exhaust system for a 5.7litre V8?
Squid's friend has a 3" system. 2 1/2" systems seem to be the most common.
I chose a 2 1/4" for better use of the exhaust gases momentum to create the extracting effect.
I suppose every exhaust shop has an opinoin and it's something that I haven't heard tested.
You see these young guys in Nissan 200SX's and Subarus with "jam tin" mufflers you can fit a grapefruit in but it is probably just for noise because it is difficult to see how such a big opening can be efficient at removing the gases.
If the exit is too big, there is not enough momentum in the exhaust to create a smooth flow and there can actually be turbulence in the system which reduces efficiency.
But maybe they just want to sound hot.
Has anybody experimented with systems and their diameters?

the catback for the vx and vy are the same
the headers and cats are the same for vx and vy series 1
series 2 have cats in a different spot they sit higher (closer to the headers)
the manifolds are the same though
most people go ether twin 2.5" or single 3.5" for stockers to bolt ons
when you go to cams H/C FI you will need to go twin 3"
thumpin!

I've got a duel 2.5" into a single 3" with 4 into 1 xforce headers and stainless steel cats.

single 3" is to small for a 5.7 it would be a restriction

Hmmm im still scratching my head. Ive found some good deals on dual 3" systems around $300 cheaper. Is it still worth it without a bigger cam or engine mods? I would like to work the engine but not for a couple of years. Is it a waste of time/money getting 2.5" for a couple of years only to need a bigger set up down the track? Or do the cons outway the pros here?

you will loose power with a standard engine with a twin 3"
but if you plan on getting a cam etc later i would just get one straight up
