Is there anything overly special about the high comp 4 barrel 253 in VH SS Commodore? It's in a matching numbers car!

The plate says it's a M21 L36.

M21 is the gear box,nothing special there and L36 is the motor,253.

I dont think HDT made the SS.I thought they were a factory option
