hi guys & girls

iv'e racked up about 9 thousand k's on my senator now and iv'e always noticed the ls1 bit noisy with standard lifters ( definatly doesnt sound like piston slap just a tick tick tick lol doesnt usually bother me but as it's getting colder and colder it has become a tad bit worse.

so obviously due for my 10,000 k service i think ill do a major as in spark plugs (fusion) oil filter, air filter, leads, fuel filter and so on & gearbox service. please feel free to add anything iv'e forgotten

any one got some storys of past experiences of costs on changing lifters + springs
& the good and bad from it

also been looking into the msd ignition coils would what do people think of them

Hi Mate.

I Only have a V6 ecotec but my lifters drive me crazy its a real TICK TICK sound,
You can get a Nulone Bottle of Engine treatment that you can put in that helps quieten down the lifters, it helped mine quite a bit, think it just help frees up some build up.
I will end up changing them but the whole manifold has to be removed. Im sure its the same for the LS1,

As for the coils, they are all the same as far as i know. esp since you have individual coils per plug i would not bother.

Lifter noise is common on the LS series engines, I actually had one go bad and take the cam with it on my G8 (click youtube link)

If you are tearing into the engine, these are the best bang for the buck and will hold up to almost any abuse you can throw at them, they run quieter then new factory lifters plus it gets rid of the stupid plastic buckets that keep the lifters from turning in the bore
