This is common in many older vehicles, 9 times out of 10 it can be as simple as a wheel alignment, but you also have to consider worn suspension bushes, shock absorbers, control arms etc... There are some cases where accidents have caused these results, bending or warping of the chassis. In the end it depends on how much "Crabbing" the car has and determining what has caused it, this is where it is nice to have a hoist to look underneath for any tell tale signs...
I have seen re-births from stat-write offs with two halves from the same type car welded together, repainted and sold to unsuspecting, honest buyers. Doesn't that just make you want to puke? Certainly make you want to think twice about buying a second hand car especially if you don't know what to look for...!!! What sort of car are we looking at or is it a general question?

This might be a dumb question, but what is crabbing?
Is this the car trying to travel in a sideways motion, causing tyre scrubbing?

What basically happens is the rear wheels are not aligned with the front and as a result the back of the car looks like its wandering "Crabbing"... Some cars crab left, others to the right, then you have some which are so stuffed they crab all over the place!! I've seen a lot of these cars especially in states who don;t have pink slip requirements for rego... As a motorcyclist you tend to notice the shi**y cars first!! Yes, it can also cause scrubbing of the wheels.

OUCH! $1200
At least it's all fixed and the problem is now solved. :)

Now get a pic of the ute up on here so Loopy and Thelma can have some more fun!!!! ;)

its still bent

that was just to manipulate the steering and suspension to get it to go in a straight line

it works will deal with the bent rail later 10 ml is bugger all but its there

Stuffed bushes in trailing arms of solid axles can do a lot, I had a heap of problems with my old Skyline a while back.

What kit are you talking about with the IRS?

When i first put my fe2 suspension in, but car looked out of balance by height wise. But after a fair while it eventually came back to normal, must of being bending in.
