Hi,
The idiot who owned my car before put a hideous woodgrain wheel from SCA on it. The steering wheel is attached to the boss kit by 6 Allen key screws, but I plan on putting a VS nonairbag wheel on so I need the boss kit off too.
Last night I bought a steering wheel puller, and started to disassembled the steering wheel. I undid the main bolt (some of the way) then realised there are no holes to put the puller through. It's pointless in just removing the steering wheel coz the boss hub will still be there. I've coated every possible area in WD40, and banged from every side, tried all the pulling tips, and I swear it hasn't moved a mm, I think the steering wheel is going to rip off the boss kit before the boss kit comes off the column.
Am I missing any more screws or something holding the boss kit on?
It won't budge!!
Thanks

the steering wheel is cracking :(
i could possibly drill into the bottom of the boss kit to make holes for the puller, because it just wont come off
how hard is it to collapse the shaft?

try using a 3 pronged bearing puller, hook it onto the bottom of the boss kit an centre it on the end of the shaft, the shaft is solid, leave the nut on the shaft so that you dnt stuff the thread if it slips off

tried that today with the 2 prong one I bought by using 2 of the holes in the boss kit that holds the steering wheel on (Allen key screws) but theyre that thin that they gave way before the price of crap came off the shaft.
Just getting a mechanic to have a go at it on Saturday, see how it goes.
Isn't there some kind of design rule for these things that makes them removable and not with brute force, it's like they're designed to never come off.

haha, yep, pull them off often, lol, an put antisieze on the shaft before putting them on if they feel a bit tight

bought more high tensile bolts, fit them to the pulley and through the boss kit steering holes, tightened it up, and then twisted the main bolt, first the washers completely folded in and gave way, so I tried again and put 3 washers to each bolt, and then the bolts just ripped themselves out of the boss kit and took the boss kits thread with them, so now nothing can screw in lol
I'm this close to attacking it with a hammer
