hey guys, only 3 wks till i get my licence bak, so i gota try an get my vk finishd an rego'd, obviously im not going to have the 5L 2getha by then due to financial probs, so i gota drop sumthin cheap in 4 a white as the efi 202 in it is rooted an not worth fixin, so i bought a runnin vl the otha day 4 100 bucks, so i could use the rb30, box, an loom outa it, hoping it is a very straight forward transplant, il have to see what happens, any comments or advice/warnings etc???

most of it is a straight forward swap over, make sure you use the k frame out of the vl so the engine mounts line up...... other then that, the biggest hurdle will be the wiring....

wiring should b easy, its jus changing the whole loom, i thaught the k frames were the same? i have a vn 5l k frame in at the moment because i only had a spare vn powersteerin rack in the shed, and i am putting a 5l in eventually, but the vk an vn ones were exact same otha than the powersteering bolt up, so i figured everythin inbetween should b the same?

the vk k frame was 202, the vn 1 came out of a vn ss, but i put them side by side, an they were identical except for the mounts for the power steering rack, i also put the vn rack, sway bars, and arm under it because it had all new nolathane bushes in it. i bought new vn brakes an pads off ebay for $53, but i still need to change to vn struts because the brakes r bigger

There u go, k frame was same BUT power steer mounts differ??? lol say no more-custom swaps like that need full research+reason 2 doit in 1st place mate ,like blown355 said get the Vl frame mounts n all Vl stuff that bolts/fits onto ur install.Personally no way would i be bothered fken round wt custom motor conversion on stocky little 6 cyls when u'll droppin an V8 init later on, hunt down a good/cheap 202,throw extractors n few other goodies on it if getn for free n basically keep up wt a VL 6 anyway, 202's go good wen u fk wt em a bit+wont haveto go thru converting also (trust me-mention conversion=fk around for sure, thats if u dont av to shell out eap o cash to finsih it too)...I converted a 66 valiant from the slant 6 to the straight 6 once, no wiring changes needed,no trany changes needed, all i needed was custom sump n too bolt in the whole k frame the straight 6 came from, mate what a fk around that was-the sump i had to make myself(re-welded it 4 times)had to bash my tunnel n hak out underside of bonnet too n its an oldskool valiant,(then got busted2days later doin burnouts by TOG cops that,fk knows how but knew bout val motors n i had to get engineers cert=$2000 which if get done u will have too also,Rb30's didnt come out stock in Vk's, dont tell rego branch less u gotta engineers) in ur case 4 the sake of what 20 or 30 extra hp Vs all z fk round, pls dont do it man...
