hi everyone
just thought everyone would love to hear this

all the old standard speed camera's are been updated to cater for both directions of travel

next question you ask is the CAMERA FLASH

yes they still have them it will go OFF in your face if you are oncoming to the camera

what i want to know is this legal as a camera flash can blind you temporarily

causing loss of vision

if this happens

a. will you run off the road

b. will you cross the white centre line and have a head on

its just as bad as been high beamed

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED SO PLEASE DRIVE CAREFULLY :driving: :driving:

I can vouch for this as I got done on 27th Dec 2007, (thats right double demerits 6 points) face on 15klms and under, but there was no flash. Lucky for me my wife took the wrap and i still have my 12 points.:driving:

:confused:I have also had a recent email about the timing of cars on the M5 between tolls and the M7. The cameras at the start of the toll are said to read your number plate when you go through the toll point and then read it again further down the road and work out how fast you were going and send you a ticket if you were speeding.
I can't see it working as I only pay the toll once and that could be at the exit. I know they do it for heavy trucks as I have seen the cameras at various intervals.
Has anyone ever been booked by this method or know of anyone who has?
Another email myth?

hi tiger

never been booked through the m7 m5 systems
how it actually works is they go off your etag distance tolling which in turn is distance time so if your doing more then the limit
over that distance

they are just like point to point camera's

apparently they can book you for it but

there are no speed camera signs posted along the m7 or m5 so how can they book you
under the nsw fixed speed camera law
all fixed speed camera's must have signage to warn drivers
just take the speed camera fiasco at king Georges rd beverly hills

all fines were repaid in full as to inadequate signage

so where is the signage on the m7 and m5 its only in the east and west bound tunnels when you enter it

G'Day Tiger , the M7 is set up with those cameras that you spoke about , some motoring mob was told about them , so they got in touch with the M7 body to find out . I heard that they were thinking about using them , but scraped it as the genral public would bypass the M7 and that they would lose heaps in the tolls they collect . I think that is why the " speed limit "
is 100 km's an hour , & still is , because they knew that they would get millions of dollars from the camera's . This bloke I met in the ute club I went with , for 1 outing , told me that he proved a point to someone , not sure if it was a bet for cash or not , but he drove from point A to point B doing about 180 , has not seen a speed camera ticket , from the camera setup .
But they do have unmarked police cars with camera's to get ya , they hide very well !! & at nite you can't see them at all :driving: . When you look up speed camera locations the M7 is not listed , plus they have to have the signs telling you that a speed camera is up ahead .

I haven't been booked along there either and there have been times when I have been a little (ahem) optimistic with my estimate of my speed. I really don't think the RTA has the resources to make it work.....yet.

I still figure the best way to beat speed cameras is, don't speed. :D I'd rather be late, than dead on time.

As far as I know there are no actual speed cameras on the M7.

My understanding as to how the system is works is your eTag 'beeps' when you enter the M7 and 'beeps' again when you exit.

Each eTag has a serial number that is registered to the vehicle you own or use, and the TWO beeps on and off the M7 record a time & date. Using this data they can determine whether or not you have exceeded the speed limit on the motorway and send you a speeding ticket.

The only cameras that are on the M7 are on the entry and exit points to snap those that don't have eTags. Your number plate is photographed and they send you the toll charge invoice in the mail with an $10.00 admin fee added.

I know this because I have received such invoices from the M7 because my eTag has NOT beeped.

ok all point to point camera's are still on a trial basis

point to point camera's are on the m4
between

cumberland highway to church st exit

the cumberland highway overpas mounted on bottom face of bridge behind the big sign

then the church st exit once it goes into 3 lanes as you go up the onto the flyover they are mounted on a gantry along with 2 x speed lilimt illuminated signs

these have beeen there for a few years

next point to point is

hawkesbury river bridge northbound to the top of the hill threw the 90 kms zone

next is

the new system will be trialled on a 12-kilometre stretch near Chinderah and on a 35-kilometre section of the Pacific Highway at New Italy, both on the far North Coast, and on a 4.2-kilometre length of the M4 between Wentworthville and Granville. The trials will start in May and continue until the end of the year.

Signage at speed camera sites

The key objectives of the fixed speed camera program are to ensure that drivers keep to the legal speed limit and to reduce crashes and thereby prevent deaths and injuries on NSW roads.
Every fixed speed camera is accompanied by high profile advance warning signs and the community advised of the start of its operation by a media release detailing the camera location, crash history at the site or reason for the cameras installation and the date of commencement.
There are three warning signs installed on the approach to a regular fixed speed camera. These signs all depict an image of a speed camera, together with an applicable warning message, in the left panel and the regulatory speed limit in the right panel. The three signs appear in the following order on approach to the speed camera and read as follows:
'speed camera 24 hours';
'speed camera ahead'; and
'heavy fines loss of licence'.The diagrams below depict the signs that would appear on the approach to a speed camera in a 60 km/h zone.

Where school zone speed cameras are installed, there are three warning signs situated on the approach to the camera. The diagrams below show the types of signs that are typically seen on the approach to a school zone speed camera.

regarding the m7 camera's yes they are there but do not operate as a speed camera setup

this is due to the dollar

if everyone was breaking the speed limit and getting caught on the point to point speed camera system

what would you

i for one wouldn't use the m7 at all then

and thats exactly why they are not operational because they would lose to much money the M7 OPERATORS THAT IS

IT ALL COMES BACK TO MONEY

G'Day everyone , was coming home from work yesterday on the M5 , I was in the right hand lane which is the fast lane overtaking , & this prick with " P " plates cuts out in front of me , he had he mates in the car , & they thought it was funny !!! , well I was a little pissed off with this so I sat right on his backside , he started to get a little worried with me !! as I gave him a real hard time !!!! , he then moved back over into the left lane where he should have been in , as I went pass I slowed down a little , & gave him a few choice fingers as I went pass him .
Well with this all going on , I didn't see the highway patrol car behind us , he must have been watching all this happening , it was a 100 speed zone where I was , then goes into a 110 speed zone . I was doing about 118 at he time , I think I was still in the 100 zone , the prick in the other car was doing the same , well when I got clear of this P plater I then saw the patrol car zoom up my rear end so fast it was not funny !! , I moved back over into the left lane he came up along side me , for a few seconds , I dare not look over at him ... lol & then he put his foot down & was gone !!!!! , I was waiting for him to turn on the blue lights & flag me to the side of the road for a ticket . So does anyone know if they still take a pic or something without pulling you over ? , & another thing there are not allowed to speed are they ? .... lol , I think he was doing about 150 k's after he left me .:omg:

Hello there , Karen I think the young bloke , didn't see me in the fast lane , but the blokes in the back did , think his mind wasn't on the job at the time he pulled out in front of me . As for him giving me the brake treatment , don't think he would have tried that , as to the look on his face when I gave him the horn , lights , action , I reckon if he didn't have his seatbelt on he might have went through the roof of his car . Then when he saw the highway patrol car zoom up behind me , I think he might be wanting a pair of shorts ! oh his mates sure settle back into their seats when they saw Mr police man .

M5 South West Motorway sets the facts straight on hoax email

The M5 South West Motorway today dismissed a hoax email claiming the motorway has set up secret point-to-point speed cameras.

Rex Wright, General Manager of Interlink Roads, owners and operators of the M5 South West Motorway, confirmed the email, currently circulating in Sydney, is a hoax.

The email falsely claims speed cameras take photos of vehicles entering and exiting the motorway, and based on the time it takes between the two points, issues a fine if the vehicle has travelled too quickly.

“No secret speed camera system operates on the M5 South West Motorway – this is an urban myth,” Mr Wright said.

“There is normal policing of NSW speed limits on the M5 as occurs on the road network generally. We support safe driving and encourage motorists to obey the posted speed limits.”
