Where did you get the Chev grille and SSV Taillights from?

knucklehead

Hey Matt

I paid for my car to come with the chev grills from factory but if your looking to buy one as always Ebay is a recommendation to find one for a bit cheaper then retail, or i know www.holmart.com.au has the grills for about $149

As for the SSV lights i bought mine from holmart i managed to get mine for $110 each but last time i checked they're up at about $185 each but again check Ebay to see if you can't find them a bit cheaper

hope this helps mate

Also as the series II is on the back burner at the moment (most likely will be closer to the end of next year before i think of buying it) i've decided to save my loose pennies and change a few things:

first off will be:
Pedders Extreme XA Coilovers
then
New Wheels....still deciding between the 2 at the bottom of this post

And last but not least (for now) i will be getting rid of the Chev badges...but havent decided weather i will be putting holden badges on or getting custom grills made up :)

also if anyone has any tips on where i can find a g8 diffuser i may think of adding that to the list aswell :)

Ask Nathern for the diffuser as he got Greg and Anthony theirs.

I might be looking at a used VE soon, god I love them to bits. Your car is tops, no matter what way you look at it. Put the lions back on it mate, best way to go, and it'll still look gorgeous.

Well, he can't possibly be talking about me. Mind you, your not doing too bad for drinking night Grant!

As Grant said, see me for the G8 GXP Diffusers as I now stock them at work due to their seemingly overwhelming popularity. $55 including GST, special club price. Regular retail is around $85.

Drop me a email at membersrep@clubcommodore.com and I can send you some base instructions and pics for the difusser install.

Need: flat files, small bladed hacksaw, a dremel tool makes life easy but not essential and a lot a patience.

Very nice car knucklehead, I am glad you are getting rid of chev badgers as commodores are made in Australia and Chevs are made in the U.S.A

knucklehead
02-11-2010, 10:33 AM
yeah it was merely just a preference of the look of the chev grill over the holden badge. In my opinion i thought that the chrome strip in the chev grill gave the car a slightly more aggressive look. in the not to distant future i wanna play around with the grill and see if i can retain the chrome strip with possibly a colour coded or black holden badge

But lets not get into the age old debate of badges as it seems to get an opinion from everyone lol

knucklehead
02-11-2010, 08:46 PM
Hey Guys

Quick question is the rear badge (in my case chev) held on by a screw or the adhesive stuff the other badges are held on with?

mjvajv
02-11-2010, 09:14 PM
Its the same as your other badges (with glue) just be aware that there might be two holes from your original Holden badge.

knucklehead
02-11-2010, 09:22 PM
i had the chev badges on from factory so would there still be the holes?

KarTaz
02-11-2010, 10:06 PM
More than likely, as the bootlids are all the exact same. Make sure you have some cut and polish ahnging around, cause even though the paint is new the paint under the badge will be considerably sinier and better than the rest of the car!

Exciting news for me today :)

Due to Ashleigh borrowing my car last weekend for a girls weekend away and hitting a pothole or something the tyre went flat (she did me proud by knowing how to change the tyre:)) and when she got home and i had a look noticed the rim had a massive crack in it :(.....naturally she feels really guilty.....so being the awesome fiance that i am i punced on that guilt and was able to convince her to let me get my new wheels :hipnotise: haha (gotta love a quilty consience)
so the car is booked in for a service on tuesday and if that doesnt take all day i will have my new wheels on by the end of the day...just in time for XMAS Cruise :)

Oh and my darling fiance said she will by my new 60th anniversary door handles as my Xmas present so its all coming together nicely :)

I convinced my wife to let me get a strut tower, new bushes all around and an adjusteble sway bay for the back by telling her itll make it safer for everyone specially in the wet(you can tell the difference it handles beautifully now)tell her if you had them in place than she would have missed the pothole as the car is more responsive and shell be alot safer to,worh a try or maybe pushing it just a bit???you can use that one next time lol

GKW
20-11-2010, 05:09 PM
When I got the OTR, tune and full exhaust I used the "it makes the car more economical arguement" which in itself was very true. My car now uses less approx 10% less fuel which is great. The extra 20% in kw's, a mear added extra......evil laugh trailing off.

knucklehead
20-11-2010, 05:14 PM
hahaha as much as i get away with my fiance is quite smart.....i've tried the "its safer/its better on fuel" argument and her reply everytime "So is a hyaundai Getz" i think the "you broke it and now i need to replace it" argument is the only angle i have to work with her.......damn she's good haha

Just a little bit of an update

New wheels ordered today should have them around the end of May (no where seems to have blue ones)

http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j390/knuckleheadd/145f7dfa.jpg

New paint Scheme for engine cover worked out

http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j390/knuckleheadd/c9f3f398.jpg

also hopefully ill get some spare time soon to remove my chev badges as it looks as though someone has tried to take the one on the boot off but only got half way(thanks to them for doing half the work) but it looks like what ever they have used to pry it off has scratched the paint down to bare metal so i will also have to get that fixed up and hopefully be able to start on a custom grill which will involve calais chrome bonnet strip honeycomb mesh and some custom badges :)

so thats just a little update hopefully it will all come together with out to much hassle

Unfortunately I did not end up getting those wheels as the place I went to get them told me it was about a 3 month wait so I waited and at the end of 3 months I rang in for a bit of a progress report and apparently they had forgotten to place the order so I told them not to bother and got my money back. But in a way it was a blessing in disquise because I have found a set of wheels that'll go better with the colour scheme of my car lol
