View Full Version : Cold Air Induction

Just thought I'd get the opinion of a few others.
I'm thinking of having a larger cold air induction put on the VT V6.
I was having a chat with a fella the other day and he seems to think they are a waste of time ... that the comments that it makes a difference to the car's performance is like taking a placebo tablet instead of the real thing .... the difference is all in your head.
Any thoughts on this?
Any experiences had that you'd care to share? ....

I put a cold air on my VY SV8, and although its a V8, I did notice a difference in both performance and sound.

I can't really say for a V6 but I'd like to think that it would have to make a difference. I have a cold air intake on my VE SS and there is a noticeable performance boost not to mention to nice growl under hard acceleration.

I put one on my VTSS and it seems to give extra grunt as you get up to speed plus a little extra economy on a long trip. I certainly think it was money well spent. Combine that with a K&N air filter and the engine will breathe better.

Yes! I already have the K&N and did notice a slight difference once that went in.
I don't want big power gains, just a tad more than I have.
The fellow who would be doing the work, is also trying to talk me into extractors and a hi flo cat to go along with the 2.5 cat back I have already had done.

:whip:Vixen6,
Go the extractors. The difference is remarkable. The VT had such a restrictive exhaust that merely putting on Pacemaker headers took the power at the rear wheels from about 167kw to 212kw. I had a full 2.25" exhaust with the standard cats for better torque plus I had a LS1 edit without getting rid of the mass airflow meter to maintain the economy I get on a trip of better than 10l/100km.
Go on! too much power is almost enough!

Okay, Okay, Alright already!!! :tribe:
I'll go the extractors, etc. LMAO
Again ..... thankyou to everyone for their feedback .... you've all twisted my arm ... OUCH!

Good girl!
It would be interesting to get a dyno before and after the job.
Let us know how she goes and how often you get sideways in the wet.

Unfortunately, I'm not really into dyno's Tiger.
Just feeling the difference in the way she goes after the work is done will be fine with me.

If you go to a reputable place, they usually offer a before and after dyno run included in the price, for customers satisfaction.:woot:

v6 s/c cai from holdens my dear girl will do it wonders.
as much as i hate to say it, don't by from who i think you are as he will sell you ss inductions stuff for triple the price of what holdens will charge for the v6 s/c intake and they'll do the same job

CAI setups are the cheapest way to make power, also hooking up with a high performance air filter ie K&N.u will also notice more induction noise as well, perfect expample is as a joke i have put a K&N pod on my mrs hyundai getz, with no other mods it has more pickup (and with 79kw at the fly, every bit helps) and now sounds like something off fast and the furious once it passed 3500 rpm all the way till 6g redline
