Just discovered this thread. LOL
Awfully nice Matt.
I love black cars. Just something about that colour that makes them look mean and dirty! http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/evil/evilgrin0036.gif (http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/evil-smilies/2/#)(even when they're clean and sparkling :))

I second what Wazza said. It's even nicer "in the flesh", but I won't steal it, 'cause it's not purple. :)

I have to admiit that dark coloured cars look great when they're all nice and shiny.
Yours is a fine example, Matt.

Thanks guys and gals for the nice comments. I really love black cars, this is my 3rd one now. They do look great when all clean and shiny.

She is going to get a really nice going over this weekend too as she didn't get a bath last weekend.

As much as I love black toys it can nearly be a full time job keeping it clean, but it's worth it

At this stage I will be looking at replacing my CAI with a OTRCAI, customs tune at Sonny's, full exhaust with extractors, and 'maybe' a cam down the track.

Yep they sure do respond well. Have spoken to a few people who say the same thing about small cams in the VE's. All have said to expect at least 310 RWKW.

Last Friday I decided to get some new shoes and socks for my car. After look at countless wheels which of course made the choice even harder, I decided to go for 20" wheels by FOX and some Kuhmo performance tyres.

These wheels have a nice deep dish look and with the smallest centre hub I've seen, they actually look one size larger than they are.

See before and after pics below.

Would love your feedback.

Vixen

I like them alot, Matt. They do look bigger than 20's. And give your car some more personalised character too.
Nice choice. :D
But have you thought about painting your calipers black?? They seem to take away from the wheels a little IMHO.

Yep, that is part of my plan. Will be getting them painted black soon. I'm also getting my engine bay airbrushed with some nice customs artwork. :D

Yeh unfortunately I'll be keeping this for another 2 years before I upgrade to a VE Clubsport. If I could upgrade now I would, however I would lose too much money at this point in time. I will be looking at putting a cam in this in July/August this year. Giddy up !! :lmao:

Arrrh, these are the the rims you mentioned. Looks good Matt.

Don't you just love the feel of every bump on the road with the lower profile wheels.

Cheers

Not as bad as I thought, not really much harder ride than the stock 18" I had on.

Next is the airbrush artwork under the hood, then the cam in August. :D

Given you had already lowered it 40mm, I suspect you were getting a harder ride already so not much diff with the 20's now on.

Hows the rubber handling?

As for under hood, I've seen on Ebay and online from a store that I can't remember just yet, fully chromed bonnet lifts for cars inc VE's. Don't look too bad at all.

Not much difference at all Greg, I was surprised ! The ride is a little firmer but acceptable.

Thanks mate. The rear is about as low as it can go without it riding on the bump stops. I did actually have it lower than what you see but I found that it kept hitting the bump stops as well as scraping the under-carriage each time I went into shopping centre car parks. So I ended up changing the rear springs to bring it back up a little.

Sorry for the late reply mate, only got back from the snow late Friday, and now catching up on some posts.

I'm happy to report that the work Sonny did on my car was fantastic. The cam package is awesome, it's amazing the difference it makes and the power gains.

292 RWKW !

Here's the low down on the work I had done whilst I was away.

- Stage 2 cam package (custom ground) : included dual spring kit, push rods, timing gear

- Under drive pulley kit

- Headers & Walkinshaw cats & exhaust

- Engine & transmission re-tune

292kw. Very respectible, although you should tell the guy he needs to find another 8 for you. I have a G-Force Meter which accurately (allegedly) measures 0-100pkh and 0-400m times in your car as you drive. If you want to borrow it sometime let me know.

Hey mate, where did you get your stripes and how much? I am sick of my boring grey car so I either want to paint it (which is $5k +++) or I could get stripes as a cheaper option.
