Hello, Nick,
Those mods to your car are very tasteful and really complement the vehicle. In one picture you had taillights with clear round lenses which look really cool, but in later pictures they were gone. Hope you still have them, they look fantastic.

Thanks mate. Yeah I still have them but I like the Calais ones better. Not really a fan of the altezza lights anymore but maybe one day they'll go back on, but for now I like it the way it is.

Thanks for your comments Blackone.

It's really good to see that there are still people out there that don't try to out do the Holden design team that worked on these cars originally. Nice clean VR Nick. Excellent choice of modifications too.

Thanks mate, not a fan of the new model body kits on older cars, or brightly colour interior pieces. Not to say that they don't look good cos some do but it's just not my thing.

Thanks mate. It's come up quite well. Not much of a fan of those altezza lights myself anymore, but they were different when I first got them and thats why I liked them. But now there old and everyone has them. Getting all the suspension looked at in a weeks time, I think the sway bar and shocks need replacing but there may be more. If so, it should handle a lot better once all fixed.

Well it's been a while since I've updated this thread.

Got some ute s pac grilles. My dad had them on his old VS but I took them off before he sold it. Gave them a spray over the weekend. They look a lot better than the mesh I think. Also bought some VY SS Pedals, got them at a good price and couldn't resist. Now for the pics.

VY SS Pedals

Not black mesh it's metallic grey. Just pulled out the old mesh cleaned it and sprayed it the same colour as my speaker grilles. I think it looks a lot better.

Hard to see in this pic but it is there believe me, lol. It's more noticable in real life.

Wow, haven't been on here for a while. How is everyone? I think I should post an update. This started on the 6-3-10.

The Next Stage

Bought this wreck early this week and picked it up on Friday night. Thanks to the boys at Jaustech for helping get it on the trailer and letting me know they had it stashed at the back of their yard.
It's a VR Berlina 5ltr. Only thing missing is diff and rear springs (like you couldn't tell, lol).
Yes I will be selling parts off of it but once I start dismantling. Any you want except anything driveline related and electric windows, just ask.
Parts will be posted in the for sale thread eventually.

Where it lived for 4 years.

Not much of an update.

Got another 80ltr tank ( the car has been resting on the one in it) and bought some new tank straps for it too. This had IRS mine is live axle, one of the straps is different but I though I'd get both of them. Also needed another K-Frame as you can see from the pics below the one in the car is damaged from the impact. Just gotta clean up the tank, repaint it and the straps then do the same with the K-Frame. Might get the frame powder coated so it's a bit more hard wearing than paint. Unless 2K paint will be ok then I might get it painted.

Engine is still in the car hopefully I'll get time this weekend to rip it out.

Got a bit more work done today with the help of 2 mates. The 5ltr is out and ready to be cleaned up. Was a bit of a struggle but we got there in the end.

More done yesterday.

Front bar is off, all a/c lines are out, tail shaft and exhaust is out. The mounts are all loosened off, now just to lift the V6 out of there.

Well today I got motivated to do more. A mate and my dad motivated me to get it out so that helps, lol. Engine is out and so is the exhaust. The engine bay is degreased, came up really quite clean which is good but I will still tidy it up more. Now for the pics.

Next step is the K-Frame to come out and the new to go in.

Well more work done today. Finally got the bay painted. Great weather for it, and it came up rather good I thought. I am happy any way.

Painted bay.

And some Extractors I got re-coated a few weeks ago. They came up exceptionally well, very happy.

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e145/nguidotto/th_19102010401.jpg (http://s38.photobucket.com/albums/e145/nguidotto/?action=view&current=19102010401.jpg)http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e145/nguidotto/th_19102010398.jpg (http://s38.photobucket.com/albums/e145/nguidotto/?action=view&current=19102010398.jpg)http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e145/nguidotto/th_19102010403.jpg (http://s38.photobucket.com/albums/e145/nguidotto/?action=view&current=19102010403.jpg)

Well after a lot of sweating and swearing it's finally in. Should of been in yesterday but stripped the tread on the condenser (the A/C gas had weakened it and made in brittle) then found the engine mount bracket was bent/broken. So went into work (while on holidays, lol) got a new mount and condenser put them in then today we put the motor in.

Now in it's new home.

Piece by piece I'll start putting things back together but I'll get there eventually.

Had a productive day today.
Got the extractors in (don't want to do that again any time soon). connected up the heater and fuel hoses, also got the coil and ignition module mounted, and tightened up the P/S lines too. The coil and module brackets need to be adjusted and painted but gives an idea of how they are mounted. Doesn't look like much was done but the extractors took up most of the time today.

Also what colour should I do the engine covers?
These are the options I have thought of.....

Darkish Metallic Grey (Similar to VT HSV 220i)
Red Covers With Silver Rocker Covers
Plain Gloss White

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e145/nguidotto/th_5ltrcovers.jpg (http://s38.photobucket.com/albums/e145/nguidotto/?action=view&current=5ltrcovers.jpg)
This is the silver I want (or close to it)

If anyone feels the urge to photoshop some colours (either above or your opinions that would great).

Not much left to do now. Just small stuff..... P/S Return lines, Trans Cooler, Radiator , Rad Hoses, Battery, Put the interior back together that's just some of it.

More done today.

Trans Serviced And Cleaned
Tail shaft Installed
AU Fans Fitted To Radiator
Radiator Installed

Now for the pics.

Trans pan off. Looks pretty clean in there.

Not much left to do. Need coil lead, fill fluids, connect battery, mount charcoal canister, put inner guard linings back in, change front springs, wheels on, mount trans cooler and bumper on.
I think that is about it really so not far to go till first start.

Well yesterday was productive.

Got the engine full of fluids, then mounted the trans cooler, charcoal canister and my dual horns which I had laying around for ages.. After that found the P/S pump has a leak which appears to be around the front seal. So I got one at work today. Here are some pics.

First one had the PCV hose off, forgot about that. Was idling really rough then I found that was the culprit, it back fired and stalled. Second vid is with it on and running nice and smooth.

P.S these vids are rather large. These may take a while to load.

The engine bay is now almost complete. The strut bar needs to go on but that is it. It's also booked in for an exhaust next Friday at Everlast. Not long now.

Well the exhaust got done today. Sounds good. Definitely needs to be looked at and tuned though, it doesn't like to idle to much. Had to put into neutral just about everytime I came to a stop. I was told it has a cam in it and it definitely sounds like it on idle. Need to upgrade the fuel pump on it though because I ran it up on the dyno and they looked the a/f ratio and it was in the 14's but this may be due to the tune as well. Also got a funny noise coming from the trans when under load and in gear, it sounds like a rattle of some sort, so before it goes any where I'll getting that fixed and a new fuel pump too. Then it is off to get a tune.

Dyno vid and sheet to come.

As promised. Vid and sheets.

First sheet is V6 Vs. V8 and the second one is the V8 graph.

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e145/nguidotto/th_V6VsV81.jpg (http://s38.photobucket.com/albums/e145/nguidotto/?action=view&current=V6VsV81.jpg)http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e145/nguidotto/th_V81.jpg (http://s38.photobucket.com/albums/e145/nguidotto/?action=view&current=V81.jpg)

After noticing the AFR he didn't push it too far or go for a second run. Next step is tune and fuel pump.

Well not much more done to it at this stage. Fixed a loose distributor cap that was causing a few issues (Thanks to Chris/PREDATR) and the 80ltr tank is in as you can see by the first vid and so is the walbro pump. I changed the starter motor as the solenoid was sticky, and mounted a VE V6 heat sheild (modified to fit) to the side of it to hopefully stop it getting destroyed by the extractors. The car needs a tune, it's not very happy at idle and keeps fouling plugs. That will the next thing on the list.
