Owned by a bank who shall remain nameless. The car of my dreams, until the Morpheus VE came along! And when I get one, it WILL be manual.

Nice. Just like showroom condition. Is that the true colour or just the sun effect? I don't think I have seen that colour before. But any red is good.

Hi Tigerv8, it's not quite that shade. Slightly darker. I have a thing for red cars, well had, until I saw the Morpheus.
Thanks BlackOne. My first decent and clean car. :)

Yeh I still love the VY / VZ's Chequers. My last car was a black VY II SV8, 6 speed manual. Very reliable car, never missed a beat !!

Nice BlackOne! I got told not to buy a manual, because they have too many problems. I also didn't have the extra $20,000 to buy the only manual at the car dealer. I'm definitely looking for a manual next time. Maybe sooner than I thought, if I can sell my soul or something to raise the funds. :)

I hear ya mate. My current ride is a 6 speed auto and I now regret buying it. Wish I had of stuck with the manual. Only reason I went for the auto is I'm stuck in heavy traffic everyday to and from work and the stop starting in the manual got to me after 3 years.
I really love my manuals and I guess you only really discover these things when you make a change as I did.
Oh well, only 2 1/2 years to go before I update to the next car and it will definitely be a manual.

Blackone,
Do you change cars every 3 years? You must be rich or can't find one you like. But do get a manual next time. Heavy traffic is a bugger, though, but it is more satisfying when you get to choose your gear instead of the car doing it. I wish tiptronics would hurry up.
And my little VT manual caught and passed a VE Clubsport R8 the other day on full song. But it was an automatic. Good thing I didn't fluff my gear changes. At least now I know my car is quicker than I thought!

Chequers,
Maybe the old manuals with the 6 cylinder cars gave trouble. But I have had my car now for almost 8 years and never had a problem with the 6 speed gearbox. Only trouble I had was the rubber damper coupling between gearbox and tailshaft wearing out recently. Otherwise, no issues, even running more power through it.

Nah not rich at all Tiger, far from it. I have a nice car allowance as part of my salary package and that has to be spent every year otherwise the tax man wants more money from me.
So I usually update my cars every 3 years.

It was only when I mentioned buying a manual VY that my mechanic said not to get a manual. I know what you're saying about the heavy traffic, BlackOne. I wore out a clutch in an old non-Commodore in 18 months, going up a hill from work. It was either ride the clutch, stall, or hit the car in front.
Thanks RedIce and Rockett, poor thing's kept outside now, so it will fade. I'm guessing the first owner kept it under cover, and washed it occasionally. :)

What sort of rims do you recommend? I never bothered with them, because I can't see them while I'm driving. :) I've just started to notice how faded it's getting, but my local car wash man showed me a car he's hand polished (A red '91 Nissan) and it looks brand new! That's what we'll do next. Or maybe get brakes, or maybe air horns, or maybe the steering fixed, or maybe the seat fixed, or maybe .... a new car. :D

Your paintwork looked pretty nice last weekend Glenys. As for rims, that's opening a can of worms. There are so many different styles to choose from, it really comes down to personal choice to what you like. Some like all chrome, others like them painted same colour as the car.
Do you have anything in mind for rims ??

Not a clue, Matt. I never even really thought about it until people here mentioned it. Beaurepairs has a touch screen thingy where you can bring up a pic of the same model, with different rims. I might have a look at that.
Thanks Louise. It's been nothing but a big headache, but we're getting there. :)

It's great to see yet another lady doing up her car.
Do things your way. As long as you like it, then that's all that matters.
Well done.
