Is it front or rear??

If it's the front I'd be looking straight the hydrolic radius rod bushes right up the front. To check this, get someone to stand outside your car & look at the front wheel as you slow down (from side on) if they are stuffed, the wheel will move back & forth as you slow down, stop & take off again.

If your car has more than about 30,000 kays on it, there's a good chance they are gone anyway LOL I think I've only seen 3 VT - VZ models come thru so far that haven't had stuffed bushes.

I agree. That seems to be the most common cause of clunks in the front suspension. I have a VTSS and have strangely not had that happen yet in 110,000km. But I did have a broken strut bushing which also made loud clunking sounds over bumps, particularly when cornering. The strut moves around and the handling becomes soggy with spongy turn-in when entering a corner. At least it did with my car.

my vt does the exact same thing, thanks tiger :)

Yeah, the factory swaybar links are also shocking, but that one is across all models due to the way they are mounted.

There is a modifaction for the VB - VP models that greatly reduces failure & increases rigity in the front end.

Cheek your diff fluid as well if its low it can be felt through the drive line and can make the same sound. But only if its a LSD.

Dumb question but how do you check the diff fluid?

On IRS equipped vehicles there is a large bolt on the right hand side of the diff, above the line of the drive shafts near the diff hat.

To check the level it's best to have the car on level ground or a hoist (just to ensure you get a correct reading).

1) unscrew the large plug (27mm I think)
2) If fluid runs out, the there is enough in there LOL
3) If fluid doesn't run out, insert finger & see how far you have to go before you can touch the level. (I usually place my finger flat on the bottom threads and use the first 1/3 to check)
4) If you can't touch it, top it up with the correct viscosity oil for your perticular diff (LSD & Non-LSD diff use different oil)
5) Check and rectify leaks if diff level has dropped to this point.
6) Go back to driving like normal

If you have a live axle model, then there is a rubber/plastic grommet on the diff hat. Carefully remove (they split really easy) and inspect as per IRS. Use a little smear of sealer when replacing plug so it doesn't leak.

i assume you squirt the oil in the that same hole?

Yeah, and with a whole lot of fun if your doing it on the ground LOL

Just keep adding it until it starts to trickle out of the hole (the reason why you need the vehicle to be level) Then slap the plug back in & try not to over tighten it or you gonna have to remove the diff to fix it.

On that note, removing the diff is a pretty easy task, 24 bolts & 2 ABS sensors will have it sitting on the ground :)
