Yep we usually take the UHF / CB radios with us. Most of us have portable ones which you can buy from Tandys / Dick Smith for around $60 for a twin pack.

I have a spare one you can borrow Chequers if you need to.

Now available as a day tour on Saturday and Sunday at 11:00am (pre-book and pre-pay) (subject to site bookings).

Torchlight Tours:

Three very different themed public tours are available. Experience the personal accounts of an Ex-Inmate tour, learn the facts and stories of Maitland Gaol on a History tour or pursue the supernatural on a Psychic tour. Tours available every Friday and Saturday evening (subject to function bookings). Call us to find out the type of tour scheduled for your preferred night - BYO torch! Conditions apply.

This sounds like it'll be an amazing night out, so even though we're waaaaay over in SA, I'd still encourage anyone who's interested to get their families (ie: the oldies) and friends together and go along.

Just shows how we are all different. I assumed we would use torches because it is dark INSIDE the gaol. Most old gaols are very dark and spooky inside. I've been in a couple of them. (Hope my picture is not on the walls of the police stations any more!)

Yep, you're right about it being dark inside jails. The ones I've been in (as a TOURIST) have all been light enough to see. Which ones have you been in ? I've been to Fremantle, Dubbo, Adelaide, and Port Arthur. You're right though, we will have to see what eventuates. Otherwise, someone's going to look silly waiting all day for a night tour, or someone will look silly going at night when no one's there.

Yep no worries Jason, going home via The Entrance is a good idea.

As for getting your money to us, we need to see how we go for number mate. The figure I posted earlier is based on having 25 people minimum in the group. So if we have less than that, let's say 15 people, it means to price per person unfortunately increases as we have to cover the minimum group charge of $425.00

15 people = $28 per person

20 people = $21 per person

25 people = $17 per person


Hopefully we'll see 25 people and would be an awesome turn out !!

Either way it will still be a top night that's for sure.

From King Georges Rd to Hornsby shouldnt take you any more than 40-50 min. Not sure about Hornsby to Maitland, Maybe 1-1.5hrs.

g'day shona , would be great to have you along , but we had to pay for the tickets for the goal tour in advance , not sure if you are able to just turn up & pay at the goal ? . we are meeting up at thornleigh , from there not sure if we are heading up via f3 , i think we are going somewhere for dinner first , then onto the gaol tour , then after that we are going for a drive the long way home . maybe Matt or redice can give you a better picture bout it , if they see this post ?

I would like to thank everyone for the big turn out for this cruise/event. Special thanks to Mark, Louise and Karen for their amazing efforts flying all the way from Adelaide to join us for this event, fantastic !!

It was great to meet you guys and I'm glad you had a great time. Just a shame you couldn't spend a few more days here before flying back home.
