Bonnet Won't Release!

G'day Guys,

Well, yesterday, my aunt's VS Exec Sedan went in to have new front discs and brakes installed at my work (the servo I'm at, we have a workshop onsite). Well, the mechanic fitted the new parts, bled and replaced the fluid blahblahblah. He closed the bonnet and took it up the road to make sure everything was alright (it was), but when he returned to the shop, he tried to open the bonnet to no avail.

It has been playing up of late, but now it will not open whatsoever. You can pull the release tab, and hear it moving in the front of the car, but the bonnet still refuses to 'pop up' like it should be doing. We've tried pressing down on it, and even hitting a few speed humps and my driveway at a fair good speed, to jar it loose. Yet, as with most things on our commodores, it just will not work! Can someone point us in the right direction?

mine had a similiar problem, i fixed it by putting my fingers under the hood if possible and try pulling it up and down a couple of times. Then try it if not then I dont know

push the bonnet down when pullign the tab, then when open greese it all up, see if that works

you need to adjust the latch at the front that connects to cable if it is not right it wont spring up and ZWOODY is right also if you push down on bonnet and pull tab at same time it will open that is because you are putting tension on the spring.
Re-adjust it and give it a good grease and should be right.

Yeh ALL the posts above r good advice, ill add that pushing Up n down when pulling rel cord works bit more also, then try wat VT dude said about using ur fingys or screwy to open it from underneath, if that no work ur headin for z poo creek but u still got ur paddles--lol...from there u pull the bracket that mounts the cable inside ur car(where pull the catch from) then unclip the cable that hooks onto bak of mechanism n try reefin on it wt pliers, ive beat em that way cus it sounds like they tryin to release but the latch is only pullin it halfway(push up+down on bonnet sametime wen pullin cord now also) n if that dont work drive it to ur local panel shop n theyll crak it open in ten mins bout $30-50-hey its only a VR lol, but ur mechanic mate might not wana take it there in his uniform cus they have a chuckle at him wen he leaves plus tell all their trade mates how he couldnt get a simple 1st year job done- lol??? yeh lol...
