Distinctive but ugly. Reminds me of the Chrysler 300C wagon. Still, it should win the 12-hour with a 6-litre engine.

There are no Monaros this year. Although there is a Brock. Michael Brock will be driving an Evo VIII. And Craig Baird and Paul Morris will be driving a BMW 335i. Should be worth watching and the supporting categories are proving popular too. There are 56 Formula Vees, 50 saloons and about 90 HQs. There should be some action in that lot!!

Yes, I wish I could go. One of my work colleagues is a timekeeper there. I hope it doesn't rain because the event deserves to be successful and to grow. This racing is about as close as we get now to the Bathurst 1000 of old where the cars are pretty much showroom spec and we can actually buy them. I remember when the first 12 Hour was run, Alan Jones entered a BMW M5 and drove it down from Queensland to run it in then put the stickers on it and raced. I think he even had the number plates still on it.

Well, boys and girls, the Bathurst 12 Hour has been run and won.
The wagon did not do so well. It ran out of brakes on lap 31 and crashed into a Lotus Exige, therefore retiring from the race. But a VY Commodore did come 9th, ahead of the HSV models and the Fords.

Rockett'
The report I got was that it had been having brake problems for a few laps and was having difficulty pulling up. I'm sure they would not have deliberately put themselves out after all the fanfare. We may have to wait until the TV highlights on Ch 7 to see what happened. The wagon qualified in 12th place.

Don't know how it handled. Maybe the TV coverage will have an on-board camera in it. It will be interesting to see.
