Shop around Steve. Honestly where ever you go they'll try and sell you what they have in stock. I go to elite car audio in Belconnen. Scott know's Ben and he's looked after me really well in the past. Once you know what to look for look on the net and get it cheaper. Installing it all isn't a problem, we know people who know people.

Im with them. ive just done it. I went to Elite where Squids talking about. Id recomened replacing all your speakers and getting a single sub woofer wich will need an amp and depending on how fussy you are about your sound, get a new head unit. but the one thing I found with head units is spend $500 plus if you want really good sound for rock especially heavy stuff. Anything will sound good playing dance/electro but getting heavy to sound perfect is tricky. then again my heavy is alot er, heavier than most others. ha ha.

does anyone know?

just havin a look around
depends on which speakers you wanna change
2 front door speakers are either 5.25" or 6"
rear door speakers same as above
rear parcel shelf should be 8" or possilbly 6 by 9's

It looks like 6.5 in the front and rear doors. Rear parcel shelf (not sure why they have the them there as well) would be 6.5 or 6.75. Just fit door speakers and subs and it will sound fine.

alright thanks guys, i picked up a set of Pioneer 6" TS - A1673S speakers from repco for $149.. i rang the "ONLY" place here in bathurst that bloody installs audio equipment and got a rip off quote of $150 :( so i unfortunately its the only option..

i rang 3 holden dealers, all of which could not even tell me what the standard sizes are.. bit of a joke..

I know the doors are 6" speakers, but 6.5" with very little modification
As for the rear parcel shelf i'm sure they have 2 options, one is an 8" subwoofer and the other is 6,9" speakers. Either way they are both modifiable to fit what you need.

As for gear and pricing. well i would say you should set yourself a budget. Stereo's can range from $500 budget systems to $25,000 award winning stereos, Depends how serious you are about sound :D.

Do you think you would be installing the equipment yourself?

$150 is ridiculously overpriced. If your willing to make the drive to metro sydney area, i know a bloke who could practically install an entire stereo at that price.
