Sorry I can't join you all this weekend. Have to get ready for a camping trip next week. When we set off, we are carrying over 400kg of people and gear packed into the ol' Commodore. We are also usually the only people in the park with a sedan. It's amazing what we can fit into it, including a tv and barbecue. Anyway, have a great day and maybe I can join you on another cruise.

No worries Darren, would be great to see you join us on the cruise this Sunday. As Red_ice has already said, he'll send you details via Private Message in the forums.

G'day Tiger, no problem about this Sunday mate. There's always the next club outing which you can join us on. All the best for your camping trip and have a great time and most importantly drive and be safe.

Cheers....

Hi, everybody,
I'm baaaaack. Sorry to hear it was raining on your cruise . Hope it didn't spoil your day. I had a great time down south camping with the kangaroos. Used 100 litres to do 900km including trips to the shops, wandering around the townships sightseeing, etc. Took 230kg of people and over 200kg of gear and still nothing overtook me. Love those overtaking lanes! Not bad fuel economy with such a load and the aircon running. And I am glad, what with fuel prices at $1.49 per litre for Vpower. Is anybody out there with a fuel injected V8 still using ordinary unleaded? If you are, try a tank of 98 octane fuel. I seem to find my car runs happiest on Shell Vpower (it runs better on the old Optimax but Vpower has reduced density).

Welcome back Tiger ! Glad to hear you had a great time down south mate. Excellent mileage for 100litres of fuel there mate. I only ever use the 98 octane fuel and with my VE I actually get about 50 km's more than I did with my 5.7L

It's all very deceptive when travelling. My fuel gauge says I have used more than 3/4 of a tank full with a 75 litre tank, but the tank only takes about 36 litres to fill it. Maybe I should check to see if they put in a 75 litre tank or not. Or maybe the gauge sender unit is buggered. Even when the low fuel warning light goes on, it only takes 54 litres to fill. At least it reads on the conservative side. I'd rather that than having it read 3/4 when it is really empty.

I know what you mean mate. In the VE, I get two warning, 'Low Fuel' and then 'Very Low Fuel'. When it hits 'Very Low Fuel' it takes 72-73 litres of fuel to fill up the 75 litre tank. I've only had it down that low a few times, usually fill up when it hits 'Low Fuel' which is abour 63 litres to fill up.

I filled up the other day and it cost me $110.
