I read about it this morning. The government has been talking about not allowing car events on the grass in the parliamentary triangle, not sure whats going to happen. If its on, i'll be there.

I plan on going as an entrant but dont know if I can afford it. I havent paid for it yet so its like $240 and I bent my crossmember on Sunday night after dodging some roos and hitting a rock.

Yea I really like that Hume photo. Stumbled across the spot by accident, just wish I had've cleaned the wheels before hand. Might go back with an actual camera and take some better photos.

Welcome along Naybour. Awesome ride you have. Great to see another Canberra person joining us. I'd go to powercruise but got the car to get worked on. As Mick said anytime you're up for a cruise just drop us a line and we'll come. That is a good shot at Hume. Benny an idea!!!!

We could use it to get a photo for the Canberra social group.

That's one of the old entrances to fraiser park raceway, it's now been ripped up by 4 wheelers.

That's sucks about you ride mate!!!! I hate the roos around here, a couple of years ago one almost completly destroyed my torana (Which I still haven't been able to rebuild since). Hopefully I'll get to catch up with you either way @ PC.

I managed to get a crossmember from Speeds and, with the help of my cousin, got it put in in only 2 hours. The front right bush is a little damaged and the bearing(i think thats what it is) on the lower control arm has a small crack in it. I cant afford them till next Thursday but it should last me till then.

PowerCruise here I come. YAY!!! I'm so excited, should be leaving this afternoon if everything goes to plan.

Finally got a T56 on the weekend. I called Mal Wood today and will be sending the box up there soon for my conversion. If all goes to plan, should have the 6psd conversion in 2-3 weeks. Then she'll be going to Gentech for a service, tune and 20psi of boost :D

After problems with stolen diffs and freight mixups the T56 and 4.11:1 LSD are finally in!!! I still havent plugged up the speedo and reverse lights but its all in and going strong. The car pulls about the same in 1st but definatley pulls harder in 2nd 3rd and 4th. With the shorter ratio it also keeps it in boost. Hopefully I can get the speedo etc sorted tomorrow and then either Friday or Monday it'll go for a service, tune and more BOOST!!!

nice, how much was it 4 t56 upgrade

Naybour
22-06-2009, 10:59 PM
It all depends on how much you get the box for as well as how you get it in the car. For just the conversion manual to manual it was $1,550 but auto to manual is more. You'll also need to buy a new clutch which is $1,200 min. Plus you'll need a new diff because the standard ratio is too high, thats another $1,500-$2,000 depending on where you get it. You'll need at least a 3.9 but 4.11 or 4.34 would be much better. I spent a fair bit more cos I got a custom clutch and also built the box and diff up. I did save money on putting in everything myself though. It took about 7-8 hours to do everything so it all depends on how much your mechanic charges too.

What do you have planned for yours to warrant the upgrade?

just wondering atm lol, i got 3.46's in mine atm, and i just put a exedy cushioned button in, but has to coem back out as rear main seal still leaking

Naybour
23-06-2009, 08:47 AM
3.46's would make it go a bit better hey? There is really no need to do the conversion unless you are going to run alot of power through it. I went through 2 gearboxes before I did my conversion and I'm hoping to have 450-500 hp by the end of the year. Weather I'll actuall have enough money for that, I dont know...lol

So I sent the car to my mechanic, got a smaller pulley and tune etc but have come across some problems. Firstly CAPA reckon the smallest pulley I can go is 80mm and it will only make 13psi but it says on their website (as well as the vortech website) that it can handle 20psi. Secondly, my injectors are too small its basically runing out of fuel at 4500rpm so I'm getting bigger injectors next Thursday. There is some good news though, it made 285rwkw at 4500rpm with just under 12psi of boost. Assuming that I'm hoping to get around 300 by next week. A T-Trim looks pretty good about now :P

I'm coming up for C4C. Bunch of people leaving canberra at stupid O'clock to make it, should be awesome. When/where etc is the AHD?

Naybour

Car is back up and running after a few hickups with the flywheel bolts not wanting to stay in. Now either my mechanic lied to me the first time or I didn't listen properly (more likely) but it was only 265 kw not 285.

Anyway, Final dyno fig is 270.9rwkw and it looks like it is making max power at 12psi even though it keeps rising to 13. I have to say that I'm dissapointed that I couldn't run more boost and make 300+...Hopefully I will one day

I'm not exactly sure what time I'll be leaving. On the Street Commodores site it looks like the plan is to leave at 0500 but others have said 0530. I was planning to get there around 0445 and just go with the flow. I'd rather get there early than be late for it :)

Big problems!!! I was driving to work yesterday and was just about to change down a gear to take a corner and the car made a grinding/rattling kina noise and when I put my foot on the clutch the engine died. I stopped and the car wouldn't turnover or anything. I checked the oil, coolant and all that and it was fine. So I called NRMA and we checked the charge etc and still no issues. 3 hours later I got it on a tow truck and sent it to the mechanics...

They found the issue and the engine has completely seized. I have no idea why, had no warning, wasn't flogging it, nothing, it just seized. So now I have to decide weather to get my mechanic to pull it apart to investigate or just take it home and leave it till I get back from overseas.

This couldn't have come at a worse time as I going to put the car up for sale this week so I could have more spending money for overseas. Depending on what is wrong I might sell the stroker kit and all the bits from the engine off cheap and just put a standard ecotec in it with the charger and intercooler etc

Damn man, that sucks big time!!!

Do you have an oil pressure guage hooked up? or are you just using the light on the dash?

By the sounds of it your whole engine is gonna be a big paper weight now & full rebuild will be on the cards. You could of broken your oil pump & starved it, causing it to seize.

let us know what you end up doing. If you want to pull the engine yourself, I'd be more than happy to give you a hand & I'd be really interested to pull it down & find out what let go......

No, no gauge. It was next on my list (boost/vac and oil pressure)

I decided to let gentech pull it out and investigate. My cousin is a mechanic so If its completley rooted we'll probly put a standard one in on a saturday and I'll sell it as just a charged VY with a t56
