View Full Version : Bathurst predictions?

Anybody want to predict who will win Bathurst this year? The Fords went well at Adelaide so what will happen on the Mountain? There is a huge amount of luck involved in this race in that you have to stay out of everybody else's accidents and be in the right place at the right time when the safety car is deployed. And how about being hit by a kangaroo or errant wheel? And look at what happened to Skaife last year....only made it through one corner!
Personally, I would like to see the race back in its old format with road cars and different classes of vehicles. I know it's not practical now with the speeds involved and the money interests that have developed, but there used to be some great racing in the other classes.
And it's not like the Supercars are anything like the road versions of Falcons or Commodores. Under the skins, the things are virtually identical.
Anyway, what's the betting? Lowndes, Skaife, Tander, The Kelly boys?

Well it's definitely going to be a tough race as always and whilst I'd like to see Skaife / Kelly win, I'd be happy with any Holden team taking the checkered flag.
Can't wait for race day, it's going to be a top day !

Brief results of first practice session for the Supertaxis:
1 Ford
2 Holden
3 Ford
4 Ford
5 Holden
6 Holden
7 Ford
8 Ford
9 Ford
10 Ford.
2minutes 8 secs seems to be the early pace.

3rd practice session for Bathurst this morning resulted in Garth Tander being fastest so far. Still only 3 Holdens in the top 10.

Only 3 Holden in the top 10. Wow, that surprises me. I can't wait for Sunday, it's going to be a great race. The day will really test the VE's !

Hi everyone, hope you all have a great day, it should be a great day for racing. Don't care too much who wins as long as it's a Holden "GO THE HOLDENS". Should be a tough race, for when it comes to Bathurst it's anyones race.

Thanks Harry, unfortunately no Holdens in top 3 spots this year. :( There were some very close moments when the rain started.
All in all a great day still. Was great to catch up with everyone at Andy's. Here's to a Holden victory in 2008 !!

Well, it was a very interesting race, what with the pace car periods, brake problems for the Toll team, the 2 near misses for Lowndes in identical circumstances, the rain at the end and poor Winterbottom losing it after leading most of the day. And what about Baird nearly pulling off a podium? But it was good to see how it is possible for the less fancied teams to get up there. Steven Johnson, for instance. And Murphy almost made it again. Tactics and luck are major factors in that race, that's what makes it so great. Just because you are fast doesn't mean you will win. I look forward to next year.
