Hello, all.
This is something new for me. I can't even work out how to post on the forum! But I saw this new club and got curious. I drive a VT SS LS1 and live at Barden Ridge, NSW.

Thanks for the welcome. I will try to create a signature when I get time. Keep an eye out for a Tiger Mica VT SS in our area, it will probably be me. We are a "car" area around me: a57 Chev next door, 68 Firebird and 70's Corvette nearby, 2 GT Falcons in one garage, 56 Daimler across the road, Porsche Cayenne in the next street. I have seen a few VE's around including a black one with black and white plates. I will look closer next time.

No worries Tiger. Honk if you spot me mate, red & white number plates with a white Club Commodore sticker on the back window. Usually see me driving around Menai quite a bit.

Nice to see such an original, clean example of a VT SS, and of course to meet you and your son as well. Hope you enjoyed your day at Oran park.

Thanks, guys,
It was nice to meet you, too. At least I know you are nice people and not a bunch of rockapes. Well, sober anyway.
I didn't get the chance to have a look at the cars closely, but they looked quite striking together. So did that purple thing. What a pity cars are starting to drive themselves, what with traction control, stability control, intelligent automatic transmissions etc. Gee, you don't even have to turn on the headlights when it gets dark or turn the wipers on when it rains. At least I can still have some fun in mine. I like to know I am in control of the car and that it may start sliding unexpectedly in the wet or I can change the cornering attitude with the throttle as the need arises. Just old school I guess. But I always try not to smoke the tyres or exceed 180. I must remain calm.
How is the lowered black beast going? Is the ride OK on real-world roads? Has the red one been given the treatment yet?

Hi Tiger, yes the 'black beast' is going well with it being lowered. The handling is much much better and next to zero body roll now.
I know what you mean about the vehicles of today and all the gadgets and gizmos that come with them. The traction control / esp for example is a great safety feature particularly in wet conditions. It's quite an interesting feeling driving and then the ESP kicks in.

Is it something like having the Limited Slip Diff cutting in when cornering hard? That always results in a bit of jerkiness as it hooks up and gets the extra grip going. I don't particularly like the new on-board systems because people come to rely on them when driving, say, fast in the wet. The system stops the car from skidding even when you put your foot down so the driver feels safe. He just keeps his foot planted and lets the car do the work. All well and good until the system fails one day and Fred finds himself in a situation he can't deal with. He will have no idea where the adhesion limit is and will blast into a wet corner too fast and not have any talent at recovering the situation.

Agreed 100% on that one Tiger. I certainly don't take it for granted that's for sure. I'm like you, and like to be in total control. When it's dry weather I tend to drive with the traction control / ESP off. Only turn it on when wet really especially when my kids and wife are in the car.
