Vt Wagon work in progress

I just got my vt about 2 mths ago, on boxing day me and a few mates re-painted the bonnet and front gards, the paint work on the car was pretty bad when i got it so we are going to do a full re-spray on it.It took about 7-8 hrs to do. There is still more to get done to the car i got 17' mags for chrissy i just need to get the tires before i put them on, im looking for performance chips at the moment. Other that that there is not really to much that im gonna do as i wanted a sedan not a wagon. Here are a few pics of my mates at work.

Just a quick update, I have got the mags on the car now, just scored a HSV badge for the front off eBay, I’m currently bidding on new headlights. My Boyfriend has a spare engine cover and rocket covers lying around so he is getting them painted the color of the car. When I go up to Coffs over Easter I’m going to paint over the ‘V6’ and all the lines with silver paint the put it on. I gave the engine bay a clean up last night gonna polish up the paint work in there tonight. I also got my stereo fitted about 2 weeks ago, just got a few thing to fix up with that, but the car is really coming along!! Ohh and she also has the Club Commodore sticker on now

Neat looking VT, more things to do (only a suggestion) : colour code the mirrors,front bar, side skirts and rear bumper, clear indicators in the guards, VY Seris 2 tail lights ( these will require a VY tail light loom) lowered, tint and paint the hubs and calipers on the brakes, As for the bodykit, i have a mate selling a VT S Pac front bar, if your interested let me know and ill see if he still has it, only thing is its white. Also debadging and shaving the rear wiper adds to a smoother look.

Ensure you get some good number plate covers. They really set-off the plates well.

i just got the slim White with black letters, i was looking at the Blue with white letters but there are $130 per year the ones i got are only $90 per year. i dont know about plate covers coz the plate rattles with the stereo now so covers might make it worse

I was just on the RTA website cause i need to reorder mine and if you waited until the 8th of April you could have gotten some pink ones with black or white writing. If your into that sort of thing and i'am hoping to see some on Jabbas car one the next cruise :lmao:

They will be the standard $30 for the plates and probably a yearly fee of $130-160 like most of the others that are on there

Yep...NSW, the Rip-Off State!!! (Don't get me started).

Dani: Try a couple of small rubber O rings between the plates and the car (i.e. at the screw point). Keeps the plates off the paint work and should dampen any rattle. I did that when I got the new plates. Works fine so far.

just found out this morning my number plates are sitting next door at the rta. Ill get them on Friday. i have decided on painting the calipers and discs silver to match the rims i seen a car that had it done and it just looks soo good make it look very clean. i have found a place that do clubby kits for her it will cost me $650 and to be picked up from Brissy im thinking ill get it in August when im at the goldie. I have changed all the headlight and back number plate globes to the White lights.

Well i done a few bits to Minnie today, i finally put the white high beam in so all the lights are matching, and i also made my grill chrome and got number plate covers.

so i have e-mailed the guy asking him what they do when the car has factory tint already ( the tint on the back window has marks all through it so i think they will have to take it off if that is the case im gonna make marks on the windows so they will take the factory tint off but i dont know what process they use). She is going to the auto electrical place on friday to get all fixed up then im hoping for the tinting for cruise for charity.

I know a guy that when he moved to NZ and took his BMW, the equivalent of the RTA there wouldn't approve his car as they said the tint (BMW factory / dealer tint) was too dark for NZ standards.

Thus, he simply got the razor blade out and carefully peeled back the tint off the windows.

$335 is abit steep, you can get it done alot cheaper then that. Legal tint is 35%, you can go alot darker then that. To remove tint they use ammonia to pull it off. My dad got his VY wagon done with 10% (dark as fark) for $260. I got his number if you want it, best of all he comes out to your house and has it done in 1 hr tops.

Remember you wear P plates, so therefore will be a target already. And then there is the cost factor of having to take off the tint, if/when defected, only to replace it all over again ... is it worth it???
