Just curious as to what rides people have and the mods that you have.

For me, a Black VE SS A6 with Cold Air Intake. Getting it lowered next month and will be look at the exhaust soon after.

On the audio side of things, looking at replacing all the factory speakers with some Focal splits at the front and Focal 6x9's in the rear parcel shelf, keeping the factory deck but will add a line out converter an a nice amp to run the speakers.

Hi, I have a VY 2004 SV8 pretty stock, mufflers removed. My stereo is a sony and I am running 2 Rockford Fosgate subs off a Rockford Fosgate amp. Ive also got Vocals splits at the front and Vocal 6x9's at the back both being run off a Clarion amp. Sounds OK;)

I have a very stock VT SS LS1 to look at and don't have a great stereo, but I did have the engine and exhaust tickled a little so that I am running 230kw at the rear wheels or about 308 hp. Funny thing is, my first set of Bridgestones lasted 72,000km, I have only approached the half way point on brake pad wear on my first set and on a trip I can easily better 10litres/100km in fuel consumption with a load on and the air running. Bought the car new, so must have got a goody.

Wow some impressive figures there mate with tyre wear and brakes etc....

I don't think I've ever had my fuel consumption under 14L/100km, on average it's around 17L/100km.

Tyres are another story. I'm pretty disappointed with the wear as I'm just shy of 13,000km and the rear tyres will probably need replacing I'd say just before Xmas. This abnormal wear is not from the way I drive either as I'm not throwing the car around corners like it was rails nor am I burning rubber off the lights at every chance I get. The left rear is wearing faster than the right as well.

Every commodore I have had, I think this is my 6th now, I have easily got 28,000km out of the tyres with the exception of my current ride (VE).

I certainly would be interesting to hear from other VE owners about their tyre wear and the mileage they have done on their first set.

BlackOne,
Sounds like you need a REAR wheel alignment. Not many people seem to know about this and I don't know if your average wheel alignment mechanic would do it. It may be a job for a specialist like John Leffler at Riverwood. His alignments are spot on.

What sort of tyres are you on? I don't know what the VE SS's wear these days. Maybe it is a VE thing but it would be very disappointing if that were the case. It will be interesting to see what other VE drivers say.

The wheel alignment on the rear is something I definitely will get looked at. Obviously a little too late as the damage is done but something that must be fixed before putting some new tread on the rear.

I'm planning on getting the car lowered and stiffer springs (King Springs) in October. Have a few quotes and spoke to a few people and will be going to Heasman's over at Sydenham. I'm sure the abnormal wear will be a thing of the past once I have the springs done and wheel alignment by these guys.

Hey mate, I was a bit disappointed at first with my tyres, I got 30k's out of them but I thought I should've got a bit more. My ones were wearing out at the edge of the walls. I did 2 wheel alignments, one at Holden and the other at a different wheel alignment place and even though it handled well it still looked as if it was wearing out uneven. After my 30k's service, I replaced all tyres with the same ones, at the Bridgestone Centre in Blacktown. They did a marvelous job as the car seems to handle even better now. 3k's later, there is no indication of any wear on the walls.

By the way my mods, I have removed the rear mufflers and replaced with straight pipe and oval tips. I also have a home made Cold Air Intake. Happy with that at the moment.

I didn't mention the mods to my car.
Pacemaker headers, tuned twin 2 1/4" exhausts, cold air intake, K&N air filter and a retuning of the engine programming. Not moch really but made a huge improvement over stock setup.

My RUMBLE mobile pictured above is an 07 SSV.

Current mods include: 3" Cat Back Exhaust, Growler Cold Air Induction, 20" Rims, Track Stripes (to make it go faster) and a clubcommodore.com sticker on the back window:)

Future mods "hopefully" in order of priority : Performance Tune, RipShifter, Lowered (but not just yet as its reguarly pointing its tail at salt water on the boat ramp), Maybe a Supercharger!!

On a recent trip to the Goldcoast averaged 14L/100KM going up the pacific hwy. Included a lot of stop starting as there was a fair bit of roadwork going on. I wasnt takin it easy either and the car was fully loaded and towing the jet ski.

Usually get about 15-16L/100KM, although i dont drive it a lot during the week so when i do jump in it i'm usually giving it a bit...but never above the speed limit officer!!

Hey Shannon, you definitely have to go for a rip shifter mate. I put on in the VY SV8 and it made a huge difference. Just ask John (a.k.a. thumpin!) as he now drives it. I'll probably look at a performance tune myself in the new year.

I plan on asking holden what mods i can get done without affecting the warranty when i take the car in for service some time in the next couple of weeks. Got no idea at the moment...even a little worried that the Growler CAI may upset them!!!

The growler is ok mate. When I put the cold air intake on mine the dealership didn't have a problem with it.

When you start doing things like puting in a cam or turbo or supercharge, that's when you have warranty issues mate.
