My interior light has a mind of it's own, when it' on the door setting it randomly comes on when I am driving and stays on. If I lock the doors while I am driving they will randomly unlock on there own and 6 times out of 10 when I start and car it wont start and the ignition will beep 3 times. These problems have been there since I bought the car. One thing I do know is that the BCM is not the original one and is also the incorrect one....
Holden think this is the problem. But it's $200 for a new Body Control Module (BCM). Then another $175+ for labour for them to program it. Then $120 for each Key that I have, apparently holden keys can only be programed once. So it will cost about $615ish and they don't know that it will even fix my problems but it does look promising.
Any thoughts by anyone as I don't know a great deal about BCM's apart from the fact that they control everything electronic.

Try and contact Sonny @ Marranos. He does a lot of performance mods and he might have an alternate solution. GOODLUCK
it could be a huge number of different things but without taking a look i'd say check the earth feed for the control module.
Failing that i woould check the feeds at the control module and ensure you are receiving everything you need to.
i definitly would not just trust the holden dealership that it "might" fix it
especially for that sort of money.
and when the car does not start does it crank or just beep?
You could even try borrowing one from a similar model car and check to see if it fix's your problem.
But again without looking at it, it's really hard to say.

Sorry, no can help. Mine has a new BCM and that still didn't fix the problems in mine. My doors don't always lock when I take the car out of park, and don't always unlock when it's in park. Not very handy when a mechanic etc is in the car and can't get out. My key cost $110 too. Apparently they last about 3 years. Gotta love Holden. :)

Try the simple things first such as the previously suggested checking of the earth lead plus the fit and condition of fuses and components in the electrical box in the engine bay.
If it still doesn't work, try a hammer.
It takes a lot of technology to make a simple problem into an impossible-to-fix-without-throwing-lots-money-at-it problem. In the good old days the light wouldn't work because a possum chewed through a wire and that was easy to find and fix with sticky tape and chewing gum and a piece of fencing wire. (You could fix any problem on a car with one or more of those items.) Now you have to test all the electrical components in the circuit and find which one is misbehaving because they all LOOK fine. Bugger.

I have checked the earth and it seems to be fine. As I do know the it's the wrong BCM it's very likely that it's that problem. I found a guy on ebay who sells BCM with 1 key for $125. I have given him the exact model and he going to get back to me

if your going to be at andys place for the bathurst BBQ i could grab a few tools and have a quick look and sus the whole thing out and get a better idea of exactly what it is doing and what the cause would most likely be

Yeah Sly it wouldn't be the first time you have sorted out gremlins with a club members car. I don't think Thunder is going to be at Red Ice's for the race though.

What exactly does the BCM control? Dear old Basil (bless his little mechanical heart) has a few intermittant problems, but has a new BCM. Eg, the headlights didn't turn off when I locked him. The window didn't go up when the key was taken out of the ignition, and the old , doors don't unlock when he's in park, etc. These things never happen when I take him to Holden.

Thanks. Must be something else then. Whatever it was, they replaced it, but it still doesn't work right. Maybe whatever ghost was in my second car has just transferred.
